From October 2008 commercial premises will require an Energy Performance Certificate if they are sold, or if a lease is granted or assigned. 

If you do not have an EPC when marketing your property, you can be liable for a fine of between £500 and £5,000.

Public buildings require a Display Energy Certificate (DEC).
